As long as they're not edited or shortened, I don't see what the problem is. Are they edited? I've never listened to one.

I always thought audio books were for the blind, but I see there's a huge trend now, and I guess they're handy. I know this guy who hurt his back and passed the time flat out by listening to a Harry Potter book.
