“It is unacceptable to display any book in a public space of your home if you have not read it.” Klein and Seligman seem to share a belief that book ownership can, and indeed should, serve as a medium for displaying something important about yourself. They signify either what you already know or whom you would like to be — and (this is the major point) they do so for someone else.

As much as I agree that your books should represent who you are and shouldn't serve as some shallow expression of intellectualism and "depth", calling such behavior "unacceptable" is just plain stupid. There'll always be people who want to make an impression, rather than developing who they actually are, and it's their call. This post is judgmental nonsense!
