Here’s a good deal:
…free PDF downloads of the first two books in Spencer-Fleming's series, In the Bleak Midwinter and A Fountain Filled With Blood, via e-mail registration.
Though the story says the offer expired a couple of days ago, I signed up and received the books without a problem today.

Several blogs promoted it, but it seems like the publisher didn't promote it from their own web page, since I found no mention of this on the publisher's web site. I signed up though. MacMillan publishers are doing pretty well with these e-book promotions. Tor (part of Macmillan) is also doing their Watch The Skies program.
I contrast that with HarperCollins. They have done a couple of e-book giveaways but theirs come in DRM-only formats that require crappy PC-only e-book readers. And shocker of shockers, they've gotten hardly any publicity. Let that be a lesson to publishers. Make things easy to read and easy to use.

Agreed. I'm already in for purchasing a couple of books by authors I've been introduced to through these free e-book deals. It works both ways, too. I've also decided which authors I would never waste my money on. I signed up with Tor as well, and am greatly enjoying my foray back into the SF and fantasy world via their free e-book program. Let me know if you hear of any other such promotions.
