author readings

Figured I would pimp the Stranger's new books page. They hired a books editor a few months ago and now collect all their book reviews, blog postings, as well as recommended book readings in one place. Awesome resource for the reader in America's #1 most literate city (we want a recount, Minneapolis).

Michael Swanwick asks which authors are the best at reading (their own works) out loud? Science fiction has a large number of conventions (at least compared to other forms of fiction), so many many authors do a lot of readings. I'm not a con goer, but I've stopped in at one or two author readings around Seattle. All have been average as far as the actual reading went.
