Children’s Books with Sad Endings Should be Banned…or Burned

The Happy Endings Foundation is concerned about children’s reading material. Children, they say, should read only books with happy endings, and that makes it okay to burn books that have depressing content. The group is planning a series of ‘bad book bonfires’ and are urging librarians to remove such books from the shelves. Unbelievable.

A Burning Issue

Book burner Tom Wayne is at it again. In a bid to “spark a conversation about the importance of books in the face of a marked shrinking in reading trends”, Wayne has committed another few hundred books to the flames. He calls it “a funeral pyre for thought in America…a political, artistic, social statement on a culture that doesn’t think anymore”.
