Wrestler Lance Storm challenges wrestling fans to read with his Book Marks club. Only if the author will participate will a book be selected, and Storm occasionally gives freebies to participants. Not exactly an audience one expects to be big readers, but the book club has been going on for years with lots of participation.

The duo is launching a children's book club. Eight books have so far been shortlisted for the club, which aims to advance child literacy. Whle publishers and booksellers are thrilled, the synthetic phonics method of teaching that the series will promote has its detractors, among them children's laureate Michael Rosen. I guess we have to take the bad with the good...if it is all that bad.
