Bookshelf—The Blog

The recently launched Bookshelf is a blog about…you guessed it…bookshelves! It’s a singularly ugly blog, with its bright yellow background, but it features some of the wildest bookshelf designs I’ve ever seen, from blatantly ridiculous, yet somehow intriguing, models to ‘that’s-so-cool-I’ve-gotta-have-one’ designs. Check ’em out.

Bookshelf and Self

“It is unacceptable to display any book in a public space of your home if you have not read it.” Klein and Seligman seem to share a belief that book ownership can, and indeed should, serve as a medium for displaying something important about yourself. They signify either what you already know or whom you would like to be — and (this is the major point) they do so for someone else.

Creative Bookshelves

Build them how you want them. Each book gets a box; what you do with the boxes is up to you. It’s creative, but it might make it difficult to find your books, not to mention getting them out of the ‘shelf’.

Shades of Bookishness

How do you organize your books? The latest trend seems to be organizing by color, and I admit it has its appeal, though it might make locating a particular title a bit of a challenge.
