The duo is launching a children's book club. Eight books have so far been shortlisted for the club, which aims to advance child literacy. Whle publishers and booksellers are thrilled, the synthetic phonics method of teaching that the series will promote has its detractors, among them children's laureate Michael Rosen. I guess we have to take the bad with the good...if it is all that bad.
