This is my last installment for the movies adapted from comic books and this time I shall be listing the best villains in movies adapted from comic books. It cannot be doubted that the antagonists in comic books are as significant as the heroes themselves as they help define the character of the hero. They also help in forming the image of milieu of the story.

There have been numerous superhero movies adapted from comic books since I was a child. I mean, superheroes are almost in the same mainstream level as fairy tales. Girls had their princesses while we boys had their superheroes.

There’s a new comic on the web that might be worth a look. The story line sounds intriguing, the graphics rock, and best of all, it’s free. Freakangels is a weekly, ongoing comic written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Paul Duffield. This is an interview with its creator, who explains the how’s and why’s of the project.

It’s hardly your typical history textbook, but it’s getting the attention its story deserves. Children in Germany are studying the Holocaust by way of a comic book—Die Suche—an approach designed to make the story more real to them and to counter the myths, prejudices and misunderstandings about the Third Reich.

The 60th and final issue of Y: The Last Man goes on sale tomorrow, and serious fans of the series are seriously upset. Creator Brian K. Vaughan claims there will be no spin-offs and no sequels. “I think finales are what give stories their meaning,” he says.

Spiderman fans are having a fit over Marvel’s decision to ‘unmarry’ Peter Parker and his wife of almost 21 years, Mary Jane Watson. The move undoes two decades of storytelling and messes with a premise that fans felt was carved in stone.

Comic book fans rejoice! More than 2,500 back issues of Marvel comics will be available in an online archive—for a fee. It’s a logical move for the company, whose fan base is already on the Internet. According to comic book analyst Chris Arrant, "About 90% of the comic books sold today are scanned and put online within 36 hours." The archive is the legal way to go, says Marvel.
