In honor of the 40th anniversary of The Man Booker Prize for Fiction, Peter Straus has compiled a rather in-depth quiz on the prize's history. The winner of the quiz will receive a copy of every title ever chosen to receive the prize. Cool beans!

The London Review of Books is holding a competition for young reviewers that those under the age of 26 might be interested in entering. Closing date is June 2nd, 2008.

Fans of Patricia Cornwell’s murder mysteries are being asked to come up with a television advertisement for her latest novel Book of the Dead. You can enter a 20-second short film, a script or storyboard. The shortlist will be announced on Monday 10th March. The final winner will be announced Monday 16th March.

This author is taking a page out of Associated Content’s promo book—a possibly brilliant, undoubtedly cheap way to advertise. Just print out the poster, put it up on someone else’s advertising and post the picture to Flickr. In return you’ll get a free galley. Well, at least it’s not stickers that never come off. Hopefully the book is worth the effort.

Worst first line contest

Starting June 19 and going through Sept. 7, Cheerios is searching for the next great children’s book author by inviting previously unpublished adult authors to submit their story for a children’s book. The story should be suitable for children who are 4 to 8 years old.
