2007 NBCC Winners Announced

The 2007 NBCC awards ceremony celebrated the endurance of literature and literacy in America. Books already highly praised, such as Junot Diaz's long awaited second book, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, and Edwidge Danticat's memoir, Brother, I'm Dying, received awards. Other winners, like Mary Jo Bang's poetry collection, Elegy, received significant recognition for the first time.

New Series on Critical Mass

The NBCC announced its new Critical Mass blog project today, the goal of which is to re-introduce authors who have won or been nominated for their NBCC Award. According to the press release, series posts will feature “review roundups, reminiscences of award winners by friends and former students, group discussions, and excerpts from books”.
