The Mystery of Poe

I’m a sucker for a good literary history novel, and Matthew Pearl’s second book, The Poe Shadows opens up yet more questions about Edgar Allan Poe’s mysterious death. Check out Poe’s Death Dossier here to see the new information that has come to light regarding Poe’s demise.

Where Authors and Audiences Meet

Hot off the press, Book Tour is the place where authors and audiences meet. It’s the latest thing in book promotion. Authors post their books, biographies and tour schedules, and you, the audience, can personally contact them to arrange for an appearance in your home town. Book clubbers are going to love this.

Seussville

Could you ever forget the Cat in the Hat? This is the sweetest site--all color, action and whimsy. Besides scads of games and interactive activities, there’s a detailed author biography. Very appealing and quite delightful...even if you are all grown up.

Do you ever wonder what the place you’re reading about really looks like? Find out if the author has painted an accurate picture of the setting here. The places/authors I clicked on had interactive maps that gave a tour of the locale…very nice.

Stop, You’re Killing Me – A Website to Die For

This is a way cool site if you’re a mystery fan. The location index lists characters by home country, the history index lets you find characters according to the time period they live in, and the diversity index lets you locate characters of different nationalities and other distinguishing demographics. In fact, you can search for books a whole bunch of odd ways. I give it a ten.
