Ten Fantasy Books That Should Be Movies

I’m happy to see The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks and the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny made this list. Both would make great movies IMO. But if I had to choose just one it would be the latter. There is some grand special effects potential there. Opinions?

Perdido Street Station. The Lies of Locke Lamora (which I have heard has indeed been optioned). Seventh Son. Last Call. I'd love to see someone pull off Pratchett or Holt.

The problem with the list this guy made is that most of them are high fantasy, the most boring kind of fantasy there is. Tolkien was bad enough. The only thing that made the movies worthwhile was the special effects.

As they point out in the comments, A Game of Thrones is becoming a TV series on HBO. It's gritty low fantasy and it's great. I can live without the rest, especially Jordan and Eddings.
