I love reading outside. This may sound sappy, but when I go to the beach I like to take along my Norton Anthology of Poetry. When I worked in Toronto, I had an hour and a half bus/subway/bus commute, so a lot of my reading got done in transit. I prefer the beach. During the academic years it was the coffee shop, but they're too noisy here. At home, it's under a tree, and if I'm inside, it's wherever the light is (we're not wired yet, so there is only one). :)

I can't get into a book if it's too noisy around me. Reading on trains is fine but reading on a bus is hard. Looking forward to a four-hours bus ride tomorrow. Got Jack Vance's Emphyrio and a thick slab of sheets of paper about Artificial Intelligence programming for company.
I love to read laying on the lounge, but usually end up in bed because some fool tries speaking to me while I’m reading, how rude! And how silly, as If I'll answer them.
I can’t read outside, my eyes hurt so bad even with sun glasses.
I can’t tread while travelling I get nausea.
I've mentioned this before, I think, but my reading really depends on the book -AI programming, like Jakob's reading, would require me being in a deprivation chamber with metal, unpadded furniture, good light, locked doors, and nothing other than the book. Not even paper.
In general, the noisier the place, the better the jazz on my ipod, the more focussed my reading gets. It's wierd, I know, but somehow I concentrate better when there's distraction. At home, while I like reading in my scivvies, I'm too prone to all the easy distractions -food/snacks/naps/email/cat/wife/food/food/food. Every tough book I read ends up in a 6 course meal and 12 pages read.
I suppose we could have used the title 'not safe for anyone' many times already, but I thought it would be especially pertinent here because in this show Richard and Hans illustrate the many situations in which the C-word is perfectly appropriate.

Ha! AI programming, like Jakob's reading, would require me to be in a room with padded everything.

I've never gone to a shop to read.
I mostly read on the tube. Or on the couch at home.
In the summer I like to go sit in the park and read.
I was reading one of those Master and Commander books on the tube and a dirty old man started clapping at me. Very intimidating and scary!
